Judges Comments:

Really good class of birds, the top six or eight are, really, quite strong. Some good depth through that top end of this class

Cage L owned by J Ennis from Victoria, is a Yellowface cobalt, hen, she rose to the top of this class. She moved to the top fairly quickly and she ended up staying there. Kevin & I felt she was the most complete bird in the class. She's a real power hen. The yellow-face is really contained to the face and mask area, no intrusion

The ground colour down through the wing is quite crisp. A good all-round bird, beautiful spot impact, lovely length of feather. She's got enough going on widthways through the cap and through the face. Really good spot impact, and she's just very steady in the cage, didn't move, so she's a worthy winner of this first class. Congratulations to the breeder of this bird.

There's just that bit extra size and strength of shoulder that carried her over the yellow face sky cock in Cage R.

Cage R owned by Brian Good from South Queensland, Here's an interesting sort of bird, this bloke. He excels in terms of his depth of mask and his length of cap feather. He really does push it forward at the cere and is a good show bird

Again, nice rich yellow face to him, stands up well. He was happy and steady to sit there on the perch all day, so a good, worthy second place getter. Just a bit extra depth of mask carried him over the third bird, the yellow face sky cock in N.

Cage N owned by Holmes Family from South Australia, He's a really interesting budgie, this cock in N, he's very thick through that top end. He's transitioned from cap to mask is quite impressive, really thick through the ear covets. A little down in spot impact compared to that top yellow-faced cobalt hen, but he has so much thickness through that shoulder, broad chest, really good wind carriage on this bloke, and again, he's real super steady in the cage.

Cage D owned by V Carro from Victoria, Yellowface Sky cock in D Super feather condition. He really is shiny. A little more yellow feathered, we'd say, than the top three birds. Not quite as much feather quality as far as length of feather and that coarse feather we're looking for, but a real good show bird. Stands well off the perch, good length of body, really good shape and good style. It was that reason that carried him over the cock in fifth, the bird in Cage F, yellow-faced sky.

Just not quite as neat outline and his shape as the bird above him. Really impressive through that mask area. Nice cap once again. Just a little more budgie behind the perch. We'd like to see a bit more width of chest and a bit more forward of the perch on that bird, but a really nice bird all the same.
