2026 Class 10 - Lutino

Judges Comments:

Nice class of Lutinos, top 5 or 6 are super, super birds. Really, really strong.

Cage I owned by Helen & Garry Hibberd from South Queensland, Lutino cock bird up top, unbelievable. He went to the front and he just stayed there. His feather quality is quite something. The depth and the richness of the colour, really buttercup yellow, the ideal we're looking for with the Lutinos. Granted, he probably hasn't got quite as much length of keel off the perch as some of the birds in second and third, but just so much thickness through his shoulder and face. He's got a punched-in beak, beautiful depth of mask, the body feathering right through. He's just a real all-around budgie and a super Lutino.

Cage S owned Ray Slade from Victoria, the Lutino clock in second. Supreme show bird, fantastic shape, style and deportment. His facial feather is really, really nice. He's got lovely downward feather, good lateral, really nice square back skull. Not quite the depth of color of the top bird and not quite as powerful, which put him in the second.

Cage T owned by Wayne Cachia from Victoria, Third bird was an interesting one. Sat second for a big part of the judging in the class. A really long bird off the perch. You got to appreciate the length of this bird right through. He's really, really long. Good colour once again. In the end, we decided to swap him and second place around. He just hasn't quite got the feathering around the cere of the second bird, and just a little tendency just to hang his wings just slightly, but a super all-round budgie once again.

Cage owned by M & D Gearing from Western Australia, a Lutino Cockbird once again, similar style bird to the first-place getter, without having quite the width of feather, super, super depth of colour. Lovely budgie, not quite as much length off the perch as the third bird, which put him in the fourth position on the day.
